Article view counts use a random, per-article token in browser session storage to avoid counting repeat refreshes for 30 minutes. The server stores a hash of that token temporarily and keeps aggregate totals. Expired token records are cleaned up by a scheduled task after two days. A short-lived hash of the network address helps limit automated requests. These counts estimate visits, not unique people or completed reads.

When you submit a comment, UMD Media stores your display name, email, comment, IP address, and browser information in WordPress for moderation and spam prevention. Your display name and approved comment are public; your email address and IP address are not displayed with your comment.

Do not submit confidential or sensitive information through public comment fields or social-media replies. For sensitive tips, use a safer communication method and avoid exposing personal details unnecessarily.
